Is it really a Men in Black movie without Will Smith? That’s the question we’ll all be asking ourselves as Men In Black International this theaters on June 14.
Jokes aside, Men in Black International will star Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth and be an all new Men in Black adventure.
The pair worked together extremely well in Thor: Ragnarok and, while it was a clear oversight not to get Taika Waititi to write and direct this movie as well, I think it’s safe to say that there will be some pretty good jokes, as well as the typical Men in Black cheesiness, in Men in Black International.
But while there are several new characters being introduced in this addition to the Men in Black franchise, one seems to stand out — Pawny.
Pawny, an alien who seems to be the comedic relief for the movie, is seen hanging out with Thompson and Hemsworth throughout the trailer. While he may not be a main character as far as we know, I think it’s safe to say that he will be on screen for a good amount of time in this movie.
But who is the voice of Pawny?
The voice of Pawny is none other than veteran comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani
Nanjiani, who has appeared on series such as Portlandia and Silicon Valley, was nominated for an Oscar in 2018 for The Big Sick, and probably would have won many other years when he was not up against Jordan Peele’s Get Out.
Clever, witty and with perfect comedic timing, Nanjiani was the right choice to add to the Hemsworth and Thompson duo for Men in Black International.
