The Faculty of Business, Law and Tourism has a track record of internationally excellent and world leading research and attracts a large number of post-graduate research students, seeing them through the successful completion of their research degree programmes. Research in the Department is led by our Centre for Research in Tourism Excellence (CERTE) which is underpinned by a critical, interdisciplinary approach that mirrors the dynamic nature of tourism, hospitality and events in contemporary societies. All our courses received over 90% satisfaction across all areas of the 2018 National Student Survey including teaching quality, assessment and overall satisfaction. Our subject area was ranked 2nd of all UK universities in the prestigious Guardian University League Tables of 2019.

You will have Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in tourism, events or wider social sciences, and experience of working closely with non-academic partners, the business and community sector. You should possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the tourism, events or wider social sciences discipline, and of research methods and techniques to work within your own area of expertise.
